TESTIMONIES

"When I was 24 years old my mum died suddenly - it blew my world apart and I started drinking heavily. Then 3 years later my father died followed by my brother 4 years after that. I tried getting help but it didn't work.

On top of that, I used to be in a very violent and controlling relationship for 10 years and had one son. I managed to get out of it, but I became a single parent. Bills started to get on top of me and I couldn't cope until a friend told me about FEED.

I came along to FEED although I was scared as I didn't know how people would look at me, but everyone is so nice and in the same position as me. I don't know how I would cope without the food help I get and also the support and friendship/prayers I have received too. In the time I have been coming to FEED it has helped me sort out my drinking and my bereavements.

I met my new partner two and half years ago and he has fallen on really hard times too ..... FEED has been able to help him too.

I look forward to going to FEED now and seeing everyone and how they are doing."

“Thank you everyone at FEED who helped my friend out this week. She had nothing in her cupboards at all and she would have starved herself until Thursday if it wasn’t for you guys!!! I’m not actually sure how many days she didn’t eat for previously. She said also to say thank you.”

"One day (approx. 18 months ago) I was skint and hungry with no-one to turn to. I went to my support worker's office to see if they had any food. They didnt but they told me about Feed at the Vineyard. Hungover and not feeling good, I made my way to Feed, met one of the helpers, had a talk and was given a bit of encouragement and food. I felt good when I left and found people who didnt look down on me.

After a short period of going to Feed I started attending the Vineyard on a Sunday morning and soon after that I did the Alpha course - I didn't go every week to Alpha because I was still drinking but, through Alpha, I met many kind people and received so much generosity. The people I have met at the Vineyard have never given up on me.

When I first started going to Feed I told the helpers that I had tried everything to stop drinking - detox, rehab ..... nothing seemed to work. One of them suggested "prayers" and used to take me to the front of the service. Now, thanks to the prayers I have received, I go to the front on my own. I think its working (well something is!) I've been dry for just over 4 months now but I'm not counting, I'm just praying." Craig
