Just Community

At Vineyard our faith inspires us to action, in the belief that all people should be treated with dignity, and that poverty can be ended. So we started Just Action - now named Just Community - to remind and inform ourselves and others, and to lobby our politicians to keep their promises to eradicate poverty. There is also a cross-denominational, local church expression of the same values: Just Community

We believe that it is morally wrong to allow a child to die every 3 seconds, from preventable diseases and insufficient food.  Our generation has the power to end poverty.  We believe in prayer, in demonstrating the compassion of Christ to those held down by poverty, and in campaigning to achieve change.

Our Government pledged to halve extreme poverty by 2015 in the Millennium Development Goals and we will encourage them to keep that promise. We have opposed and fought to stop Vulture funds. We regularly meet to focus on current justice issues. Join our facebook group to find out more.

Debt and Trade are key ways that rich countries keep the poor trapped.  We stock fair trade products in our café and campaign with the Jubilee Debt Campaign.
