// A strong, loving and lifelong relationship doesn’t happen by chance. It takes making intentional decisions and dedication to keep the fun and romance alive. We want to help enable couples to build a strong and intimate relationship based on effective communication, love and respect. //
These evenings are designed to be informal and fun gatherings that address particular topics that all couples can relate to - whether you're struggling or have enjoyed a number of years happy married. These are a general conversation starter between you and your partner, and perhaps your friends - rather than any kind of group counselling. You won’t be asked to participate in any group work or discussion at these evenings.
This autumn we're hosting a fun evening of interactive interviews with married couples!
Hear from those who've been happily married for a long time to those who've survived separation; and how they've experienced God lead them in day-to-day challenges to bring strength and intimacy to their marriage.
SAT 30TH SEP, 8PM-11PM
SHORT-TERM CONNECT GROUPS
We usually run some short-term Connect Groups after each marriage event. These involve 5 sessions that each address particular topics that arise from the movie in more depth. Please note that there's no pressure to join one of these short Connect Groups after the movie evening. Similarly, couples who haven't been to the movie night can join these short term Connect Groups.
Register your interest in joining one of the Marriage Connect Groups by contacting Marna on 01727 812765 or by email.
The Pre-Marriage course is ideal for any couple engaged or seriously considering marriage.
ONE EVENING A WEEK | 5 WEEKS
Each evening begins with a home cooked dinner. You'll be able to meet other couples, compare wedding plans, or just take a bit of time to unwind from the day. Throughout the course you'll look at a range of topics that you'll come across in your married life, such as, managing finances, resolving differences, conflict, commitment, communication and the extended family.
You'll hear from couples who've completed the course, explaining some of challenges they've faced in their marriage and the ways they've resolved these. Don't worry, you'll only be asked to discuss topics between yourself and your partner; there is no 'group sharing' in this course. It's based on Christian ethics and values, but is suitable for anyone - with or without a Christian faith or church background. It is one of a number of courses developed by Relationship Central.
Are you engaged? Then let us know! Dates for the Marriage Preparation Course are dependent on how many couples are engaged.
The Bible tells us that Jesus promised us life to the full. Yes despite our best efforts, some of us don’t feel like we are experiencing this. We struggle with serious doubts about our own worth, fighting very real disappointments, and it can feel like we’re simply surviving rather than living. It may be a challenge for some of us to own up that we are not doing as well as we may present to the world, and take a bit of courage to confess that we may struggle with certain issues and behaviours.
What is Restore?
Restore is a ministry providing an opportunity for men and women to address personal issues in a safe and confidential environment. Restore offers a place for us to uncover habitual deceptions we’ve believed about ourselves, other people and about God’s character. The course comprises of 10 sessions addressing, specifically, our relationships with our parents, our siblings and our peers. Restore aims to teach you how to use the tools you need to actively rely on Jesus and how to access healing from wounds and disappointments you may have experienced. Many people who’ve been on the course have experienced a level of transformation, enabling them to move into deeper, healthier relationships with God, themselves and others.
How does it work?
Each evening starts with a small time of worship. Someone will speak about the particular topic being addressed that evening and we'll then break into smaller groups of 3-4 along with 2 pastoral team members. Each person is prayed for by the pastoral team, and encouraged to engage in prayer themselves. This course is heavily reliant on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and should be regarded as an opportunity for the individual to engage with the Holy Spirit themselves. Please note that this course should not be regarded as an alternative for counseling or other mental health treatment.
Where do I sign up?
The next Restore Course will be running in June 2018. Contact our Head of Pastoral Care, Dennis Hylton, to find out more.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10v10
Specifically designed for people who are currently undergoing a separation or divorce, or have done so in the past.
ABOUT THE COURSE
It's a 6 session course held over one evening a week. Each evening will begin with a home cooked dinner where you'll be able to get to know other people on the course and the facilitators. The evening then moves on to hearing one of the course leaders address a particular topic. Issues covered range from legal advice to managing family relationships to forming good communication skills with your ex partner. There will be the opportunity for you to ask questions and discuss these issues in smaller groups, but the course does establish a no-pressure environment where individuals can contribute as little or as much as they want. The course is run by people who themselves have gone through a divorce, so you can rest assured you'll be met with an empathic and non-judgmental attitude.
We charge £40 per person to help us cover costs, but there are concessions available so please don't let finances stop you from joining - just get in touch. If you have any questions or want to find out more please email Dennis Hylton or call the church office on 01727 812765.
Prayer is one of the foundations of the Church. We understand that God's ears are open to our prayers and He is ready and willing to respond.
Join us before the services on a Sunday morning to pray for the church and practice using those 'spiritual gifts' the Bible talks about. Meet us in the downstairs lounge at 9-9.30am every Sunday.
There is a trained prayer team available every Sunday to pray, so whether you need prayer for something specific or just a blessing, please ask. You'll find the team next to the main stage after the service.
We also have an amazing pastoral team (including qualified counsellors) who can offer a bit more experience, prayer and help to people in the church if you feel you may need it. We readily recommend the Restore Course. Please do talk to Dennis, our Head of Pastoral Care, if you'd like to know more and could do with a bit more help.
Other opportunities to pray include joining our PrayerNet, which emails out emergency health situations of Vineyard members. So you can pray when and wherever you are when you read these!
