Women's Meet-up

Am I the only person who struggles to make meaningful friendships?
How can I be free from comparing myself to others?
How do I get my needs met by ‘spending time with God’?
How does social media impact our self-image?

If you’ve ever asked yourself a question like this then meet other like-minded women at our Women’s Meetup. Happening once a month, we gather to discuss, learn and share practical ways to implement and live out our faith in Jesus as we face a common cultural issue each month.

These mornings host frank, honest discussions so to help ladies feel free to disclose, we won't be admitting children (except babies in arms).

You don't have to book to come along - but it does help us cater if you let us know you're planning to.

The Alpha Course

The Alpha Course

WHAT IS ALPHA?

The Alpha Course provides a unique opportunity for you to discuss and explore Christianity and life's big questions in an informal, fun and friendly environment. Whether you're an atheist or have never considered any kind of spiritual existence, Alpha is an open and safe place where you can find out more about Jesus and ask questions.

WHAT'S THE FORMAT?

Alpha runs over 10 Monday evenings, each evening beginning with a home cooked dinner where you can meet and get to know others who've joined the course.

Then there's a short easy-to-listen-to talk addressing a particular question relating to faith, religion, spirituality and life. It's not meant to be treated as a lecture but more as an opportunity for you to explore what you really think.

After the talk we break into smaller discussion groups over coffee & cake. It's the perfect time for you to share your thoughts about what's been discussed that evening.

The whole purpose of the course is to provide a space where you can ask your questions about Jesus, about Christianity, the Church and Bible - so don't be shy!

WHEN'S THE NEXT COURSE?

Alpha begins again on Monday 28th January 2019. You can expect a warm welcome each evening. Whether you're by yourself or coming with friends, we'll do our best to make you feel right at home.

Lots of people want to try out the first evening before they commit to the whole course - which you are very welcome to do. The entire course, including dinner, is completely free.

Marriage Preparation Course

7:30 PM19:30

Marriage Preparation Course

This course is designed for engaged couples who want to build a strong and lasting relationship. It takes place over 5 Monday evenings, each beginning with supper, followed by a talk and an opportunity for discussion.

You’ll hear from other couples who’ve completed the course, explaining some of challenges they’ve faced in their marriage and the ways they’ve resolved these. You’ll only be asked to discuss topics between yourself and your partner; there is no group discussion or group work, and no requirement to disclose anything about your relationship.

Rather, the course creates a space for you to address a range of topics that you’ll come across in your married life, such as, managing finances, resolving conflict, commitment, communication and the extended family. There will be a married ‘support couple’ if you wish to further discuss any topic in more depth.

The course is based on Christian ethics and values, but is suitable for anyone - with or without a Christian faith or church background. It is one of a number of courses developed by Relationship Central, run by Nicky & Sila Lee.

To help us cover costs we charge £40 per couple, which includes things like your workbook and dinner. Please make cheques out to Vineyard Christian Fellowship of St Albans. Please don't let finances get in the way of joining this course, just email our course leaders via the sign-up page.

Re:Focus

For when our giants look big, and our God feels small. Inspired by Bill Johnson's acclaimed book ‘Strengthen Yourself in the Lord’, these six weeks will help you see God clearer and stand up taller when facing those challenges life throws at you.

This is a time where we need courage and faith. Not because things are difficult, that's obvious. But because of the fullness of God's promises are lingering over the church, waiting for someone to see it, to believe it, and to say yes to what could be. Sessions include:

If you want to kill giants, follow a giant killer!
The enemy uses lies to make problems appear bigger than the solutions we carry
God never sets us up to fail, only to grow
Jesus was moved to action not by human need, but by his Father's heart

This FREE course runs over 6 Tuesday evenings 7.45pm-9.45pm

These Tuesday evenings will also provide you with a great opportunity to meet our Senior Pastor, Mark, connect with the team here and meet others from the church including fellow newcomers.

Rising to the Call

Jesus commissioned his followers to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:18-20

How many of us find this challenging?
Are overwhelmed by it?
Or feel inadequate for the task?

Rising to the Call is for those who have completed Vineyard Introductions, continuing the Equip journey giving you further tools and the confidence you need to respond to this commission. We’ll look at what the Bible has to say about it, the part the Holy Spirit plays in helping us to do it, including how we can use the gifting He’s given us, and how your unique presence in this world is essential to God’s redemptive plan for creation. This is an opportunity to learn with others, with a bit of ‘practice’! Join us to work out how individuals like us can play a part in bringing God’s Kingdom to the world around us. Topics include:

Prophecy & Hearing the Voice of God
Our Spiritual Authority
The Spiritual Battle
Doing Ministry like Jesus
Dream Interpretation

Family Connect Group Taster Morning

Do you have young children?
Find it impossible to make an evening gathering whilst raising a family?
Is it hard to connect with friends when you’re always on ‘parent duty’?

Family Connect Groups are the perfect way for parents of young children to grow with God and connect with others. These take place one Saturday a month in the daytime. We start off with everyone worshiping together, then the dads will entertain with the kids while mums take some time for some bible study and prayer time by themselves; they then return to swap with the dads. Don’t discount yourself if you’re coming along without your partner or are a single parent - all parents are welcome!

One of our Family Connect Groups is running a ‘taster’ morning with Jon & Emma. So take a couple of hours out and come along to experience what one of these group is like. Perhaps you’ll meet other families you’d like to form a regular group with; Jon & Emma will be able to guide you through the possibilities and answer any questions you may have.

Thinking of coming along? Sign up and we'll get in touch with the venue and more details.

Easter Sunday Baptisms

Join us this Easter Sunday for what promises to be a very special occasion!

Join us to celebrate those who make a public declaration to leave the patterns of their old lives behind and follow Jesus into a new exciting adventure filled with his love and affirmation! Just as Jesus rose from the dead, we symbolically rise with him into a new life.

// For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.// Romans 6.4

We're baptising those people who wants to follow Jesus and call Vineyard their church.

Perhaps you've made that decision to follow Jesus but haven't been baptised as an adult? (Child baptism/Christening is different as this is your personal decision.)

Whether you know you want to be baptised, or just interested in finding out more, choose and join us at a Baptism Preparation Class:

  • Thursday 11th April 7.30pm-8.15pm

  • Sunday 14th April 11am-11.45am

  • Monday 15th April 7.30pm-8.15pm

If you can't make any of the above dates, we will find a suitable alternative.

Whether you've been baptised, call yourself a follower of Jesus or not,  everyone is very welcome to join us this Easter Sunday. The service is contemporary so will be accessible to all.
