Family Connect Group Taster Morning

Do you have young children?
Find it impossible to make an evening gathering whilst raising a family?
Is it hard to connect with friends when you’re always on ‘parent duty’?

Family Connect Groups are the perfect way for parents of young children to grow with God and connect with others. These take place one Saturday a month in the daytime. We start off with everyone worshiping together, then the dads will entertain with the kids while mums take some time for some bible study and prayer time by themselves; they then return to swap with the dads. Don’t discount yourself if you’re coming along without your partner or are a single parent - all parents are welcome!

One of our Family Connect Groups is running a ‘taster’ morning with Jon & Emma. So take a couple of hours out and come along to experience what one of these group is like. Perhaps you’ll meet other families you’d like to form a regular group with; Jon & Emma will be able to guide you through the possibilities and answer any questions you may have.

Thinking of coming along? Sign up and we'll get in touch with the venue and more details.

Can't make this date but would like to try one of these Family Connect Groups? Then drop Richard an email.

Easter Sunday Baptisms

Join us this Easter Sunday for what promises to be a very special occasion!

Join us to celebrate those who make a public declaration to leave the patterns of their old lives behind and follow Jesus into a new exciting adventure filled with his love and affirmation! Just as Jesus rose from the dead, we symbolically rise with him into a new life.

// For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.// Romans 6.4

We're baptising those people who wants to follow Jesus and call Vineyard their church.

Perhaps you've made that decision to follow Jesus but haven't been baptised as an adult? (Child baptism/Christening is different as this is your personal decision.)

Whether you know you want to be baptised, or just interested in finding out more, choose and join us at a Baptism Preparation Class:

  • Thursday 22nd March 7.30pm-8.15pm
  • Sunday 25th March 11am-11.45am
  • Monday 26th March 7.30pm-8.15pm

If you can't make any of the above dates, we will find a suitable alternative.

Whether you've been baptised, call yourself a follower of Jesus or not,  everyone is very welcome to join us this Easter Sunday. The service is contemporary so will be accessible to all, and we usually hand out some Easter chocolates!

Rising to the Call

Rising to the Call

Jesus commissioned his followers to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:18-20

How many of us find this challenging?
Are overwhelmed by it?
Or feel inadequate for the task?

Rising to the Call follows on from Vineyard Introductions, continuing the Equip journey giving you further tools and the confidence you need to respond to this commission. We’ll look at what the Bible has to say about it, the part the Holy Spirit plays in helping us to do it, including how we can use the gifting He’s given us, and how your unique presence in this world is essential to God’s redemptive plan for creation. This is an opportunity to learn with others, with a bit of ‘practice’! Join us to work out how individuals like us can play a part in bringing God’s Kingdom to the world around us. Topics include:

  • Prophecy & Hearing the Voice of God
  • Our Spiritual Authority
  • The Spiritual Battle
  • Doing Ministry like Jesus
  • Dream Interpretation
  • In the Market Place

This FREE course runs over 6 Tuesday evenings 7.45pm-9.45pm

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality

You can’t be spiritually mature whilst remaining emotionally immature. Many of us are sincere followers of Christ, people who are really passionate for God and play a part in church life - such as joining a Connect Group and serving on a Sunday. Even though we may be considered mature in our faith, we can still find ourselves ‘stuck’ - especially when faced with interpersonal conflicts and crises.

The Emotionally Healthy Spirituality course offers a strategy to address these situations, offering pathways to transformation that will help us mature in our faith with authenticity and establish peace and confidence in God.

This free six-session Bible study awakens us to a biblical integration of emotional health with the classical practices of contemplative spirituality - leading us to a relational revolution with Jesus. We’ll be using DVD material from author and pastor Pete Scazzero, as well as small group study and reflection.

The course will include topics like:

• The Problem of Emotionally Unhealthy Spirituality
• Know Yourself that You May Know God
• Going Back in Order to Go Forward
• Enlarging Your Soul through Grief and Loss
• Discovering the Rhythms of the Daily Office and Sabbath
• Growing into an Emotionally Healthy Adults

Marriage Preparation Course

7:30 PM19:30

Marriage Preparation Course

This course is designed for engaged couples who want to build a strong and lasting relationship. It takes place over 5 Monday evenings, each beginning with supper, followed by a talk and an opportunity for discussion.

You’ll hear from other couples who’ve completed the course, explaining some of challenges they’ve faced in their marriage and the ways they’ve resolved these. You’ll only be asked to discuss topics between yourself and your partner; there is no group discussion or group work, and no requirement to disclose anything about your relationship.

Rather, the course creates a space for you to address a range of topics that you’ll come across in your married life, such as, managing finances, resolving conflict, commitment, communication and the extended family. There will be a married ‘support couple’ if you wish to further discuss any topic in more depth.

The course is based on Christian ethics and values, but is suitable for anyone - with or without a Christian faith or church background. It is one of a number of courses developed by Relationship Central, run by Nicky & Sila Lee.

The course runs over Monday 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th February & 5th March.

To help us cover costs we charge £40 per couple, which includes things like your workbook and dinner. Please make cheques out to Vineyard Christian Fellowship of St Albans. Please don't let finances get in the way of joining this course; just get in touch with our course leaders, Mark & Lucinda Kooi, through email or on 07854 586733.

The Alpha Course

WHAT IS ALPHA?

The Alpha Course provides a unique opportunity for you to discuss and explore Christianity and life's big questions in an informal, fun and friendly environment. Whether you're an atheist or have never considered any kind of spiritual existence, Alpha is an open and safe place where you can find out more about Jesus and ask questions.

WHAT'S THE FORMAT?

Alpha runs over 10 Monday evenings, each evening beginning with a home cooked dinner where you can meet and get to know others who've joined the course.

Then there's a short easy-to-listen-to talk addressing a particular question relating to faith, religion, spirituality and life. It's not meant to be treated as a lecture but more as an opportunity for you to explore what you really think.

After the talk we break into smaller discussion groups over coffee & cake. It's the perfect time for you to share your thoughts about what's been discussed that evening.

The whole purpose of the course is to provide a space where you can ask your questions about Jesus, about Christianity, the Church and Bible - so don't be shy!

WHEN'S THE NEXT COURSE?

Alpha begins again on Monday 22nd January 2018. You can expect a warm welcome each evening. Whether you're by yourself or coming with friends, we'll do our best to make you feel right at home.

Lots of people want to try out the first evening before they commit to the whole course - which you are very welcome to do. The entire course, including dinner, is completely free.

Global Leadership Summit 2017: Day 2

Everyone has influence and the ability to create positive change. When you improve your leadership, you impact lives, churches, businesses, governments, schools and families. The GLS is a two-day event featuring world class speakers and live worship, that creates a unique blend of vision, inspiration and practical skills you can immediately apply in many different situations.

// A great mixture of speakers, both inspiring and practical. Sometimes leadership conferences can major on the inspirational, but don’t offer practical ways to take it back into your own situation. This conference was different! // Phil
// Sometimes leaders run out of fuel, direction and purpose. The GLS is an ideal cure. it challenged me, recharged me, reminded me of God’s purpose for my life and taught me many lessons through the teaching and interactions with the attendees. A life changing event. // Andrew
// I wish I had heard all this in my 20’s. But since God is not finished with me yet, better later than never. // Gill
// I have just completed two pages of feedback notes for our church and that is just headline stuff not detail. It is like a shot of adrenaline. // Mike
// As someone who experienced the GLS for the first time at Willow Creek (us) itself last year, this year’s UK experience was almost better. I expected it to be a poor imitation, but it really does recreate the atmosphere, spirituality and gospel enthusiasm of the main event. // Gordon

Global Leadership Summit 2017: Day 1

// Gordon

Men's BBQ

Every guy is invited to join us at our July BBQ and spend the evening grazing on a range of roast meats. A relaxed way to connect with other guys here at Vineyard.

Do BYO beer or hipster ale.

If you're planning to come along then help us cater by signing up. We usually ask for a £5 donation on the night to help us cover costs (from those who can afford it).

Live Brave suppers and Saturday breakfasts are for ordinary everyday guys. It's essentially a place where we can approach those challenges we all face - whether that's in our relationships, our work, our parenting, or our sense of purpose and significance.

Parenting Workshop: Let's Talk About Sex

Equip courses play an essential part in 'discipleship' here at the Vineyard. The Equip program offers a wide selection of free short courses and workshops, ranging from theological and biblical study to practical training. All Equip programs are designed to empower and encourage you; giving you wisdom, vision and confidence as you respond to God's call.

We are running a series of parenting workshops this summer! These aim to not only equip you with helpful info and ideas, but allow you to exchange experiences, relate what you or others have learned - and more importantly, have a 'night off' and a bit of fun!

Each Tuesday evening will start with a short talk, given by different people within Vineyard, and continue with either a discussion forum or breakout sessions. There’ll also be prayer ministry available at the end of each week.

WEEK 1 -- 6th June --- The No. 1 Key to Parenting
WEEK 2 -- 13th June --- Love Languages
WEEK 3 -- 20th June --- Spiritual Foundations For Your Child: A day by day journey
WEEK 4 -- 27th June --- Choose from either
Overcoming Challenges as a Single Parent or Experiences from Foster / Adoptive Parents
WEEK 5 -- 4th July --- Internet Safety
WEEK 6 -- 11th July --- Let’s Talk About Sex

All the workshops in this Equip series are completely free - so book onto as many as you like!
